Kiramemiko
After deciding I would use Taikun as a character for 3D animation, I realized I would need another character to play off of. Kira is an artificial lifeform. She works as a programmer and Taikun's second in command.
For the design, I wanted someone who was almost completely opposite to Taikun. A straightman type. Rather than a man, I wanted a woman. Rather than short, someone taller. If Taikun would be prone to emotional outbursts, this character would be cold and calculating.
Kiramemiko was born out of this idea. Her name literally translates to "Pretty Sparkle Child". I chose it based on the Kanji, how it sounds, and a certain level of uniqueness, so that it would be easily brandable.
Kira also serves as mascot for GlossCREATIONS, a web design agency I founded.
My skills had grown from the mistakes I made while creating Taikun, and I wanted to utilize some new things that I had learned while creating my second character. During the design I had made some design changes very contrasting to Taikun. But it was quickly made evident while converting to 3D, that some of the elements had become... very dramatic.
